Rebecca Fielding is a print maker living and working in Glasgow. She studied Art History, Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of East Anglia, going on to study at University of Glasgow with a focus on Provenance and Collection Studies. Her study in Art History in the Sainsbury Centre, at UEA, shaped an appreciation for a huge range of artistic practices; the collection ranged from mesoamerican figurines to paintings by modern artists like Francis Bacon. This forged an interest in the unifying human desire to create, which inspired her own practice.
Having never studied Art formally, she was given the opportunity to complete several short print-making courses in her role as Gallery Assistant at Glasgow Print Studio. Through her time there, and the development of her own practice, she has developed a refined understanding of various print-making techniques. Her main sources of inspiration are found in art historical knowledge, and she is particularly engaged by medieval painting, folk art and symbolists. Her recent work has also been inspired by her dreams, delving into themes of the unconscious.
