Jackie Adams
Butterfly Dome
This beautiful piece was created by artist Jackie Adams and its part of our Limited Edition Anniversary Collection.
The antique dome is filled with 15 butterflies (symbolising Seeds 15 years in business) resting on a 200 year old fan coral. The large blue butterflies are Morpho Didis, the smaller ones are Morpho Adonis and the ones with the pink laced wings are Cithaerias Pireta Aurorina.
The sculpture is made using butterflies that have died of natural causes in butterfly houses.
Due to the fragility of the piece it is only available for collection. Please contact us if you wish to purchase.
Dimensions: 45 x 35 x 25cm
Jacqueline Adams began her career as a jeweller, her work showing in top fashion magazines as well as being stocked in the likes of Harvey Nicholls. In 2003 she started making art by using found objects. When visiting a butterfly house, Jackie was appalled to discover that dead butterflies were simply thrown into the rubbish, so she started collect them. She then rehydrates them and displays them in vintage cases to create stunningly colourful and dynamic sculpture. Jackie tries to notice the potential in objects that are discarded by society. Her ethos is to never look at anything for what it is, but for what it can become.
