Simon Burder

Simon Burder works primarily from the landscape using stone lithography, a form of printmaking that enables direct drawing on and printing from the surface of a limestone block. He searches in his prints for a sense of place and is drawn to locations that are marked by human activity. Often working from the same location, he develops panoramic or series of lithographs that frequently explore themes of journeying. His current project is a study of a stretch of road near his studio at Oaks Park, Sutton, Surrey.

Simon studied Fine Art at Exeter College of Art and lithography at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. At his Oaks Editions Lithography Studio he offers courses and collaborative opportunities in lithography, enabling artists to discover the magic of printing from stones.

His prints have been shown in many exhibitions, recently including Watts Contemporary Gallery, Compton, Printmakers Council Diamond Anniversary Exhibition at Footprint Gallery, Ironbridge, Bankside Gallery, London, and last year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
