Kerry Duggan

Having studied Fine Art at The University of Edinburgh, Kerry pursued a professional career as both a curator of contemporary art and educator in London before relocating to Gloucestershire in 2022 to resume her painting practice. Here, she worked under the direction of painter Helen Masacz to develop and refine her skills in the traditional site size method of oil painting - a discipline of observational painting in which the artist works from nature to capture a sense of reality and scale. Focussing her gaze upon still-life objects, landscapes, celestial bodies and cloud formations, Kerry explores the shifting and transient effects of light that reveal the diaphanous textures, elemental forms and material properties of the world around us. The physical act of painting therefore is one of deep connection between matter and consciousness.
