Box Sn:139 "Vertical Slope" v2 " For a Maker's Delight

Table and/or Shelf mounted: 318(h) x 215 (w) x 130 (d)

A modest Slope (a travelling writing desk when opened flat on a table and opened) here, one of two provoked by the writing of Italo Calvino, and in a new departure for this maker, using slopes standing vertically and open.

In this - the second of two works - this one provoked by a specific quote "learning from the steep slope" from "The Written and the Unwritten" by Calvino, Penguin, (trans. Annie Goodstein) the two parts of the Slope are used to display a vintage/antique photo album with decorative metal clasps: a packing card; a fabricated creature made by 'Parastone', and photo images from sections of a Triptych altar painting: "The Last Judgement" by Heronymus Bosch (to be seen in the collection of the Museo Antiguidage in Lisboa) and a few 'Flea Market' finds.
