Sid Dickens New Spring Collection Launches in the UK

Sid Dickens Memory Block

The new Spring collection of Sid Dickens has launched and we are excited to have placed an order which should arrive in the UK in a couple of weeks. We thought it would be nice to share a few of the new designs you can expect to see in store, so here's some of the new pieces and some old favourites. We feel really privileged to be only one of three stockists of Sid Dickens in the UK. I saw these blocks approximately 8 years ago and thought they were so different, but later when launching Seed couldn't remember the company name, or where I'd seen them! I was at the trade show, Maison & Objet in Paris, and was telling someone about them, when we literally walked to the next isle and there they were. I don't think I breathed for air when ordering, I was so excited, the image of Gollum springs to mind... they had to be ours!

The background on Sid Dickens

Sid Dickens memory block

We love the concept of these Memory Blocks, each one is hand-crafted in Canada, by up to 30 emerging artists. They're made in plaster, hand-painted and finished to a porcelain-like quality and cracked to create an aged look and feel. The hand-staining ensures consistency of style through the different tiles. Each block passes through the hands of as many as five different artists who each add their unique skills to the creation process. Each block has its own meaning which is printed on the reverse, they're usually really touching. There are collectors of these memory blocks all around the world and whilst they do look incredible en masse they are also striking individually too. Since launching the range we've had collectors come to visit us from around the country, it's really nice to introduce them to Frome and the loveliness this town has to offer. We can't sell these online, so if you require any further information and a current stock list just give us a shout. Check out the full Sid Dickens memory block collection on Seed.
