From the 1st to the 10th of July, Frome will welcome the summer months with a festival all of it's own. Frome Festival always offers a wealth of activities, events and various other delights, this year is no exception! From Pee Wee Ellis to Hidden Gardens there really is something for everyone. Here at SEED we've been excitedly scouring the brochure and have put together our top six picks for 2016's Frome Festival.
What festival is complete without food? Why not kick off your Frome Festival with a trip down to the Silk Mill on either of the festival weekends. Roti Shack will be serving a deliciously authentic range of food from West India, Jamaica, Barbados and Cuba. Fresh seafood, rum soaked ribs and mango fries, who could ask for more? This is a family friendly event and free to enter.
4. Last Tree Dreaming at Frome Museum
Celebrating Selwood Forest, this exhibition at Frome Museum, will feature a range of events including the very first screening of the 'Last Tree Dreaming' film on the 2nd at 11am, various talks from local historians and the chance to try your hand at printing using the museums historic Harrild hand press! As part of the exhibition, local historian Michael McGarvie will also be leading a walk from Gare Hill to Alfreds Tower on the 6th.
Always a popular event during the festival, this year the Frome Food Feast will be held on the 2nd of July and is promised to be bigger than ever. A huge range of tantalising dishes are available as well as market stalls, live music and street theatre.
Of course, we have only touched on a handful of the events that will be happening, why not check out the Frome Festival website, or pick up a brochure, for the full, fab, line up. We're excited and we hope you are too!
