Snowdrop Tile Workshop - 22nd February 2020
Saturday 22nd February 2020 : 10:00am-1.00pm & 2.00pm-5.00pm
In July of 2019 we ran a very popular Botanical Tile workshop with the wonderful ceramist Clare Mahoney, it sold out so quickly we knew we wanted to run it again!
This time round we are celebrating one particular winter blooming flower, the snowdrop. February is snowdrop season and with the Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Festival on the 15th & 16th February 2020 we thought this would be a great opportunity to immortalise your snowdrops in a plaster tile so you can appreciate their form all year round.
Your plaster tiles will be created by first taking impressions of snowdrops in soft white clay, then the impressed clay will be cast in plaster and Cornish stone. This will dry and harden revealing the finished work.
The botanical tile will be ready for you to take home at the end of the workshop.
Snowdrops will be provided for the workshop, but you are welcome to bring along your own that you might have picked up from the Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Festival the week before.
Or if you have any other winter blooming flowers that grow in your own garden bring those along to create a tile with a personal touch.
- This is a beginner’s level, so no experience is necessary.
- All materials are included within the price of the ticket.
- It may get a little messy so please bring an apron or wear old clothes.
- During this workshop you will be using sharp tools, you will be instructed on how to use these but please be aware that you are attending this workshop at your own risk.
Ages: 16 +
Due to commitments to our workshop leaders we can only offer refunds for cancelations up to 30 days before the event. Full details of our workshop T&C’s can be found on our website, we advise reading this before purchasing your ticket.
