Robert McKenzie was born in Northern Ireland Robert and studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Camberwell College of Art. He has worked in advertising for the last 34 years most recently as a Creative Director for the leading Theatrical advertising agency.

His paintings have been exhibited in the The Royal West Academy, The Wells Art Contemporary, Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, The Royal Watercolour Society and The Society of Botanical Art.

In his work he takes natural and man made objects he finds, observing them honestly, capturing their form, colour, texture and patina, highlighting their overlooked beauty.

Robert spends a lot of time carefully composing these finds to give them new significance and unexpected relationships. The viewer is free to appreciate the beauty of the objects in an intimate way, weaving their own personal narrative into the composition.

Watercolour is the perfect medium to capture these moments, as it is as light and delicate as the objects themselves.
